Information for Travellers 60 and over

Rely on Travel HealthProtector Insurance to provide you with comprehensive insurance coverage when travelling outside of your home province or Canada.

While coverage may vary depending on your particular situation, acceptance is guaranteed regardless of age or health. A medical questionnaire may be required.

    We are pleased to now offer a Non-Medical package which includes Trip Cancellation Coverage for single trips in addition to our other Travel HealthProtector products. If you require Trip Cancellation Coverage to be part of your travel insurance package, please contact us at 1-800-565-3129 any time between 6 a.m. to 12 a.m. ET, seven days a week to apply.

    Multi-Trip Annual Plan

    Choose this plan to receive coverage for any number of 15, 30 or 60-day trips taken within a 365-day period. (Travellers age 80 and over must choose the 15-day option.)

    For longer trips, extend coverage anytime by contacting the RBC Insurance Company of Canada Enrollment Centre at 1-800-565-3129. (Subject to approval and type of plan purchased)

    Single-Trip Plan

    Choose this plan and pay coverage for only the days you are outside your home province or Canada. You will receive coverage for a single trip up to 183 days in length. If your single-trip is 15 days or less, you do not have to complete the medical questionnaire and you will be automatically placed into Category C.

    For a trip longer than 183 days, extend coverage anytime by contacting the RBC Insurance Company of Canada Enrollment Centre at 1-800-565-3129. (Subject to approval and type of plan purchased)

    Coverage Categories

    Your coverage category and premiums will be determined by answering a Medical Questionnaire upon enrollment.

      Category   Premium Rates & Coverage
      A   Provides unlimited emergency medical benefits.
      B   Provides unlimited emergency medical benefits if your medical condition/related condition has been stable for the 3 months prior to departure date.
      C and D   Provides unlimited emergency medical benefits if your medical condition/related condition has been stable for the 6 months prior to departure date.
      E   Excludes coverage for medical conditions existing in the 6 months prior to departure date.

    Deductibles

    You can reduce the cost of your insurance premium by choosing a $200 USD or $500 USD deductible. To select a deductible, please call 1-800-565-3129. For clients in Category E, an automatic $200 USD deductible applies.
