Linking My Cards

You are required to link your cards in order to enjoy the benefits of this program. Once you’ve linked your cards, you can save, earn and redeem with the same debit or credit card you use to pay for your purchases.

As a personal client, all of your debit and credit cards can be linked to your Petro-Points card except for the RBC Esso Visa.

As a business client, you can select a maximum of 1 Business Client Card and 2 business credit cards.

When linking, you can choose to link each of your selected RBC Business cards to either the same Petro-Points card, or assign different Petro-Points card numbers to each card so that each cardholder can collect their own Petro-Points on qualifying purchases at Petro-Canada.

RBC Commercial credit cards and RBC Visa Prepaid Cards are excluded from the program.

As a personal client, co-applicants on your accounts will need to link their own RBC cards to a Petro-Points card. They have the option of linking to the same Petro-Points card that you have, or to a different Petro-Points card.

If you are the primary card holder, any authorized users on your accounts will automatically be linked to your Petro-Points card. Co-applicants and authorized users cannot link authorized user cards through this process.

As a business client, you can select a maximum of 1 Business Client Card and 2 business credit cards.

No, you are required to link your cards online and use your RBC Online Banking credentials to authenticate your identity and to confirm which cards you want to link.

No, this is not a new credit card or loyalty program from RBC and Petro-Canada. You can link your existing eligible RBC cards, to your existing Petro-Points card. By linking your cards, you can save on fuel, earn 20% more points, and redeem Petro-Points using any of your linked debit and credit cards at Petro-Canada. This is in addition to any other payment card features you already enjoy.

When you link your cards, you consent to Royal Bank of Canada and Suncor (Petro-Canada) sharing your RBC card number, loyalty program account number, points balance, transaction history, or point of sale transaction information, and communicating with you for the purpose of administering the rewards and benefits. Using/Changing my Linked Cards

You can link, change, view, or remove your Petro-Points and RBC card(s) at any time here.

As a personal client, once you’ve linked your eligible RBC cards to your Petro-Points card you can use Apple Pay, Samsung Pay (credit card), FitBit Pays and still receive fuel savings and more points. Samsung Pay (debit card) is coming soon in 2018.

If you’ve installed or added cards to your mobile device, please allow up to 2 business days for us to link your cards. Please note that you are not able to redeem Petro-Points using your mobile device at this time.

As a business client, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and FitBit Pay are not available at this time.

As a personal client, no. Once you’ve linked at least one RBC card to your Petro-Points card, all new or replacement cards that you receive after will automatically be linked.

Please note it can take up to two business days once a new card is activated for it to be linked.

As a business client, yes. You will need to update the RBC Business cards you have selected to link to the Petro-Points card(s) any time you add or replace a card.

Instant Fuel Savings

Please allow up to 2 business days for us to process your request to link your cards.

When you pay with your linked RBC card the 3¢ per litre fuel savings are applied instantly and will appear on your receipt whether you pay at the pump or inside the store.

Please note you may request a printed receipt at the pump or inside the store.

No, there is no minimum purchase required or limit to the fuel savings you can enjoy when you pay for your Petro-Canada purchases using your linked RBC card. You’ll instantly save 3¢ off every litre on all grades of fuel, including diesel, when you pay with a linked RBC card.

Yes, you can save 3¢ per litre on fuel in addition to other fuel savings offers at Petro-Canada, such as a Fuel Savings Reward card or Preferred Price Card. Be sure to insert or provide your fuel savings card first during the transaction before using your linked RBC card as payment.

Please note that you can only use one additional fuel savings card in a transaction.

Earn/Redeem/Convert Points

To collect 20% more Petro-Points and 20% more Avion points than you normally earn, you need to use a linked Avion Rewards credit card for your purchases at Petro-Canada. At this time, Authorized Users of Avion Rewards credit card accounts will not earn 20% more Avion Rewards points, but will earn 20% more Petro-Points.

If you don’t have an Avion Rewards credit card, you’ll still collect 20% more Petro-Points when you pay for your purchases with a linked RBC debit or non-rewards credit card.

Yes, you can use your linked RBC debit or credit card to redeem Petro-Points at Petro-Canada.

Please note that any RBC cardholder who is linked to your Petro-Points card will have full access to redeem Petro-Points from that account.

No, when you pay with your linked RBC debit or credit card, you’ll automatically earn Petro-Points on your qualifying Petro-Canada purchases. For more information, please refer to the Petro-Points terms and conditions.

Yes, any RBC cardholder who is linked to your Petro-Points card will have full access to redeem Petro-Points from that account.

No, you cannot convert your Petro-Points to Avion points at this time.

You can view your bonus Petro-Points through your online Petro-Points account:

  1. Log in to your online Petro-Points account.
  2. Select “Transactions”

You can view your bonus Avion points though your online RBC Offers account:

  1. Log in to your RBC Offers account.
  2. Select “Account Activity”

Petro-Points / Petro-Canada

Yes, this program is exclusive to Petro-Points members who are also RBC clients.

If you don’t have a Petro-Points card there are three easy ways to join:

  1. Join through RBC Online Banking before you link your RBC cards (not available for business clients)
  2. Sign-up online at Petro-Points.com.
    OR
  3. Pick up a Petro-Points card at any Petro-Canada station, and activate your card online.

Only certain RBC credit cards earn Avion points. Each time you use your linked Eligible RBC Card that earns Avion points to pay for purchases at a Retail Petro-Canada Location, you will earn a bonus of twenty percent (20%) more Avion points than you normally earn for every $1 in purchases in accordance with the Avion Rewards Terms and Conditions. Please allow up to ninety (90) days from the date the transaction is posted on your credit card statement for the bonus points to be deposited into Avion Rewards account.
