Some devices may have more than one Biometric Capability. The RBC Caribbean app uses the Strong biometric type or types that is determined by your device. For example, one device may have both Face and Fingerprint capabilities. Your device's Operating System will decide if either one is stronger than the other or if both are strong enough to use with the RBC Caribbean App.
There are several security rules built into to our App that may require you to re-register Biometrics (re-enable on the settings page) or to do a traditional password login before you can use Biometrics again. Some examples are but not limited to: reinstalling the RBC Caribbean app, removing/editing your Biometric data at the device level, removing Nickname on device, resetting password on Digital Banking, or being locked out of Digital Banking.
You can easily update your Biometric data in your device settings; however, the RBC app requires a traditional password login for the first time after update to allow you continue using Biometrics authentication.
Even if it is technically possible that multiple users register their Biometric data on the same device, this is against RBC Security policy and it's the client's responsibility to ensure that only their Biometrics data is registered and recognised on this device AND that no one else knows your device passcode.
Whether you use a traditional password or Biometric authentication for your RBC Mobile login, we still continue to implement two-factor authentication as an additional layer of security. By maintaining two-factor authentication, we ensure an extra layer of protection, safeguarding your account against various security threats and providing peace of mind in all access scenarios.
