PART A
Definitions
“Eligible Personal Banking Account” means the RBC Day-to-Day Banking® account (monthly fee of $4) offered by Royal Bank of Canada.
“Eligible Personal Client” means a client who:
- Is a resident of Canada and is of the age of majority in the province or territory in which they reside as of the date the Eligible Personal Banking Account is opened. Residence is determined by the jurisdiction (province or territory) where a person has their primary tax filing obligation based on their regular place of residence; and
- Does not have an existing Personal Banking Account with us; and
- Does not have an existing RBC Bank U.S. Bank Account
“Personal Banking Account” means any of the following accounts currently or previously offered by Royal Bank of Canada: RBC Day to Day Banking®, RBC No Limit Banking®, RBC Student Banking®, RateLink Preference®, RateLink Essential®, RateLink Essential - Sixty Plus®, Sixty Plus - Signature Plus®, Sixty Plus - Royal Money Maker®, Sixty Plus - Calculator Plus®, RBC VIP Banking®; RBC Signature No Limit Banking, RBC No Limit Banking for Students account;
“Promotional Offer” means the offer as defined in section 1 of PART B below;
“Promotional Period” means the period starting January 1, 2024 and ending at 9:00 PM EST on October 31, 2025;
“Qualifying Criteria” means the conditions set out in section 2 of PART B below;
“RBC Bank” means RBC Bank (Georgia), N.A., a national banking association chartered under the laws of the United States with its main office in the United States and a subsidiary of Royal Bank of Canada.
“RBC Bank U.S. Bank Account” means a Direct Checking account offered by RBC Bank (Georgia), N.A., a subsidiary of Royal Bank of Canada;
"RBC Bank U.S. Credit Card" means a RBC Bank Visa Signature Black card or RBC Bank Visa Signature Black Plus card offered by RBC Bank (Georgia), N.A., a subsidiary of Royal Bank of Canada.
“RBC Employees” mean all our employees and pensioners;
“Terms” mean these terms and conditions that govern this Promotional Offer;
“you” and “your” mean any Eligible Personal Client;
“we”, “us”, “our” and “Royal Bank” mean Royal Bank of Canada or any of its deposit taking subsidiaries including RBC Bank.
“RBC Bank Cross-Border banking bundle” means the following: the opening of an RBC Bank U.S. Bank Account and an application for an RBC Bank legalU.S. Credit Card.
PART B
- The Promotional Offer
Provided you fulfill the Qualifying Criteria in Section 2 and the conditions set out in Section 3 below:
Royal Bank of Canada will waive the monthly fee of your new Eligible Personal Banking Account for each of the first twelve (12) months following the date your Eligible Personal Banking Account is opened. (Monthly fee for the Eligible Personal Banking Account is $4 CAD.); and
RBC Bank will waive or reduce the Maintenance fee on your new RBC Bank U.S. Bank Account as follows:
- If you open an RBC Bank U.S. Bank Account, RBC Bank will waive the monthly or annual Maintenance fee for 1 year from the date this account is opened (for clients who choose to receive e-statements, the Maintenance fee if charged monthly is $3.95 USD, or if charged annually is $39.50 USD; for clients who choose to receive paper statements, the Maintenance fee if charged monthly is $5.95 USD, or if charged annually is $59.50 USD). (Note that if you apply for a RBC Bank Visa Signature Black Plus credit card, the annual fee of the credit card is
not waived.)
- If you open an RBC Bank U.S. Bank Account, RBC Bank will waive the monthly or annual Maintenance fee for 1 year from the date this account is opened (for clients who choose to receive e-statements, the Maintenance fee if charged monthly is $3.95 USD, or if charged annually is $39.50 USD; for clients who choose to receive paper statements, the Maintenance fee if charged monthly is $5.95 USD, or if charged annually is $59.50 USD). - How to qualify for the Promotional Offer:
To qualify for this Promotional Offer you must:
- be an Eligible Personal Client; and
- open an Eligible Personal Banking Account with Royal Bank of Canada during the Promotional Period, at an RBC Royal Bank branch in Canada (or if you are an existing RBC Royal Bank client, you may also open your Eligible Personal Banking Account via the RBC Royal Bank Advice Centre); and then
- get an RBC Bank Cross-Border Banking Bundle by applying for and opening an RBC Bank U.S. Bank Account with RBC Bank and applying for an RBC Bank U.S. Credit Card with RBC Bank during the Promotional Period; you may apply for the RBC Bank Cross-Border Banking Bundle either in-person at an RBC Royal Bank Branch in Canada or by telephone via the RBC Royal Bank or RBC Bank Advice Centres.
- Conditions that apply to the Promotional Offer
The following conditions also apply to this Promotional Offer:
- Only one Promotional Offer is available per Eligible Personal Client, no matter how many Eligible Personal Banking Accounts you may open during the Promotional Period;
- RBC Employees are not eligible to participate in the Promotional Offer. However, if an RBC Employee is a co-owner on a jointly-held Eligible Personal Banking Account, the Promotional Offer may still be earned by another co-owner on the Eligible Personal Banking Account other than the RBC Employee, provided the remaining conditions are fulfilled by the other co-owner(s);
- We reserve the right to substitute the Promotional Offer with an offer of equal value, but we are not obligated to do so. In particular, the Promotional Offer as it relates to Eligible Personal Banking Accounts (i.e., monthly fee waiver for the first 12 months following the date of account opening) may at our discretion be replaced with any in-market offer that applies to the RBC Day to Day Banking account.
- Except as per section 3.c. immediately above, Eligible Personal Clients are not entitled to a change, upgrade or substitution of the Promotional Offer.
- e. RBC Bank U.S. Bank Accounts are U.S. deposit accounts with RBC Bank (Georgia), N.A., a national banking association located in the United States and a subsidiary of Royal Bank of Canada. Any funds you deposit in your RBC Bank U.S. Bank Account are insured by the U.S. Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) up to the maximum amount permitted by law. You acknowledge and understand that the funds deposited in your RBC Bank U.S. Bank Account are not insured by the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC). The standard FDIC insurance amount is $250,000 USD per depositor, per insured bank, for each account ownership category. Detailed information regarding FDIC insurance is available from the FDIC website at http://www.fdic.gov/deposit/deposits/ or by calling 877-ASKFDIC (877-275-3342) or 800-925-4618.
- Additional Conditions that apply to all Promotional Offers
- Except as described herein, the Promotional Offer and these Terms do not, in any way, affect any of the service fees and standard terms and conditions related to the operation of any of our personal deposit accounts, credit card accounts and business banking accounts, which continue to apply. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing:
- After the monthly fee for your Eligible Personal Banking Account has been waived for 12 months as described in Section 1, the account’s monthly fee will be charged per the standard terms and conditions applicable to the Eligible Personal Banking Account.
- After the maintenance fee (or fees) for your RBC Bank U.S. Bank Account has (or have) been waived or reduced as described in Section 1, the account’s standard maintenance fee will be charged per the standard terms and conditions applicable to the account, per your selection to be charged the maintenance fee monthly or annually, and per your selection to receive e-statement or paper statements.
- No annual or other fee applicable to a credit card for which you may apply and be approved will be waived as part of this offer.
- Except as described herein, the Promotional Offer shall not be combined with any other personal banking account offer or promotion.
- We reserve the right to change the Promotional Offer and these Terms at any time. The posting of the current Terms at http://www.rbcroyalbank.com/dms/cross-border-banking/_assets-custom/includes/terms-and-conditions.html shall be deemed sufficient notice to you of such Terms and any changes thereto, if required.
- Limitations that apply to all Promotional Offers
- We reserve the right to cancel the Promotional Offer at any time and for any reason, at our sole and complete discretion without notice.
- In the event of a conflict between these Terms and the content of any document, brochure or promotional material advertising the Promotional Offer, these Terms shall prevail. - We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to suspend, disqualify, limit or revoke this Promotional Offer for any person or account holder we find or believe to be manipulating or otherwise abusing the process, fairness, integrity or operation of the Promotional Offer, including any person whose overall client relationship with us is in our opinion not in good standing.
