The Royal Commission Report
The Report of the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples
On October 23, 1997, Royal Bank of Canada and the Council for the Advancement of Native Development Officers (CANDO) co-hosted a conference designed to highlight the outstanding benefits Canadians and Corporate Canada, in particular, can realize through implementation of the practical recommendations of the November 1996 Report on the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples. By taking a direct role in the economic development of Aboriginal communities across Canada, businesses will not only ensure a better standard of living for Aboriginal Canadians, but will ensure long-term value for their own shareholders. These opportunities were presented in stark contrast to the high cost of maintaining the status quo, the truly daunting "cost of doing nothing".
The following conference reports convey the compelling arguments for taking action now.
